Gather House Pork - Deposit

$400.00

We exclusively raise a smaller sounder of Idaho Pasture Pigs for our family, so our meat is grown to meet our standards. For more information about pork shares, how we raise it, and how the process works, click here!

  • Truly Pastured - Our pigs are grassed over native grasses in the the summer and annual forage grasses we plant in the winter, including oats, rye, triticale, clover, daikon radish, plantain, and chicory. This year round access to high quality forage gives our pork a sweeter, cleaner flavor.

  • Clean Finished - Like our cattle, our pork is finished using a grass/grain hybrid finish, utilizing only clean, non-gmo, soy free grains. Our pigs are also supplemented with whey from Good Grass Dairy, a grass fed raw milk local dairy. Again this enhances the flavors of our pork and we also believe this is a natural way to help reduce intestinal parasites.

  • All minerals are soy free and organic - this was a tricky one, many pig minerals are GMO, soy based, and by-products of the industrial food system. Don’t be fooled some mineral mixes make it appear that don’t have soy, but then when you read the label it says “vegetable protein” i.e. soy mixed with other unpleasant genetically modified by-products) We ship all of our minerals from a holistic, organic vet in Wisconsin. The shipping price is shocking, but it is worth it for us. Livestock have to have mineral inputs to stay healthy.

  • Essential Oil Based Fly Spray - Yes this sounds crazy, but so are the chemicals in the fly sprays most farms employ. This method means we have to apply it daily and it is expensive. We also apply beneficial insects monthly across our farm that help control our fly population. (They actually make a chemical fly spray that you can pour on your cows feed and it actually makes them kill the flies. Yuck!)

  • No Vaccines - Long before the MRNA vaccines were developed for covid, they were first developed for pigs. We do not vaccinate the pigs that are in our pork program. We give them healthy pastures, clean water, good nutrition, beautiful grass, and lots of sunshine.
