I began this journey because I love amazing food. The more I learned about the secret to really good food, the more I realized you can’t have amazing food without amazing ingredients to start with. The amazing flavors in real food is not just about great taste, those flavors come from the taste of real nutrition.

The difference between a mealy, pale grocery store tomato and one grown in the garden that is so red, vibrant, and juicy is not just a matter of taste, but a complete lack of nutrition that our bodies recognize. Just as we see that difference between home grown and industrially farmed vegetables, we also find that difference in meat. The superior flavors you will find in our meat is actually the taste of superior nutrition.

I raise our food for my family, because every time I open a new chapter to our food journey I am confronted with new questions I never thought to ask. I had always thought that local honey bought at the farmers market was the best we could get. Then I started raising bees, suddenly I realized there was so many more questions I should have been asking. Do you use chemical treatments for hive beetles and varroa mites? Where are your hives located and are they foraging at the local fast food dumpster or Walmart Garden Center? Yuck! How could I have known to even think about those things? Without experience I couldn’t, that is where trust has to come in. As you start down the rabbit hole to real nutrient dense food, you have two directions you can go. You can either do dive in head first and start doing it all yourself or start building relationships in your local community and find farmers you can trust.

One of the best places to start is your local farmers market. Don’t just passively buy things that seem way more expensive than the grocery store, ask questions! Anyone who is passionate about what they are growing will be excited to tell you all about their products, how it was made, and why it is different. If they aren’t then it probably means they didn’t grow it themselves and they are just reselling someone elses stuff or they know their practice is not what an educated consumer is looking for.

When we decided to start raising meat and eggs I was so shocked at the myriad of decisions I had to make and the advice and practices of the farmers I encountered.

Our food is raised for our family first. We are small and intend to stay that way. The importance of these two things combined mean that our decisions are rooted in profits, but in health, nutrition and a regenerative outlook.

  • We believe that happy, healthy animals, raised in a natural environment, on a natural diet will yield nutritionally superior food. We believe soy and genetically modified foods do not belong on our farm.

  • We believe in holistic care for our animals as our first line of defense and we use herbs, natural remedies, and Homeopathics across our farm when ever possible.

  • We do not use any growth hormones, yes shockingly, there are growth implants designed for use in grass-fed cattle.

We do not use RNA or MRNA Vaccines in any of our animals, although they are approved for use, even in organic animals and they do not have to label them as such.

  • We employ natural methods of fly and pest control, employing essential oils and a monthly application beneficial insects to control our fly populations. Our kids work with our animals daily and we do not want them exposed to toxic pesticides.

  • We see our farm as a lifestyle, that the Lord, Jesus Christ, has blessed and called us to and we strive to be the best stewards of that blessing that we can be.
